 is a luxury hotel in Philadelphia developed by Greenwood 

and now a member of the leading Hersha Hospitality Group. Hersha hired Cohere to reposition the spa and their wellness components to help the hotel win "Best Luxury Hotel in the Country" and attract the high-end clientele they are accustomed to serving, but with a new angle. We completed a brand strategy, new repositioning plan, messaging, brand evolution and upgrade of the space with them.

The Rittenhouse Hotel is recognized as the only independent Forbes Five-Star Hotel in Philadelphia.


HHM has a wide portfolio of hotel brands and operations in Philadelphia and beyond. As a signature portfolio piece, 

 had an existing graphic identity and presence, though, ownership felt it could use a deeper brand story and touch points to maintain its position as a leader in the luxury space. 

As new hotels and luxury experiences came online across the city, this stalwart brand wanted to retain what makes it special, while inviting a new audience to experience it as guests 

Cohere was engaged to create a deeper narrative, visual toolkit, and refresh the brand's messaging, tone, and creative presence. The goal was simple: Refresh and reposition the Rittenhouse Hotel as the continued #1 luxury hotel in Philadelphia.

 is boutique hotel, tucked away on the residential streets of Susquehanna & Belgrade in Fishtown, Philadelphia. Though the streets give the new hotel concept its name, the hotel's brand narrative celebrates two fictional sisters who are representative of the building that once served as a women’s asylum and later one of the city’s earliest retirement homes.

Built with ornate details and architectural flourish, the client fully renovated this 1769 "home for indigent widows and single women" and the property's restoration has been thoughtfully considered, with the oversight of the Philadelphia Historical Commission, to preserve its historic character and original charm. Cohere was enlisted to conceptualize the entire brand identity, narrative, and creative materials.

Cohere facilitated the brand strategy, designed the brand and helped the visual narrative come to life.

This remarkable property once served as an Asylum for Indigent Widows & Single Women. Today, Hotel Anna & Bel is proud to offer an urban retreat in Fishtown, Philadelphia that honors the property's rich history while providing guests with all the modern comforts they desire. 

Building off of the brand vision created by Hotel Anna & Bel’s ownership and design teams, Cohere facilitated the brand strategy and brand design, guiding the property on how to showcase the unique history in the narrative of their new hotel. The essence of the Anna & Bel narrative shows itself throughout the brand with illustrative marks and thoughtful copy to create a brand that has an alluring flare, an understated yet memorable point of view, and a light feminine touch.

With our Philadelphia-based branding expertise and our deep understanding of blending historical restoration with hospitality design, we were perfectly positioned to craft a bold, authentic visual identity for Hotel Anna & Bel.

Balancing modern typefaces with ornate, handcrafted touches, created a visual language that feels both fresh and rooted in history.  

A special feature of the hotel is the preserving the historic structure and French quarter style two story porches surrounding the central courtyard. The juxtaposition of the urban residential location with the old world style mansion was something we wanted to reiterate in the visual identity. Each section then required a balance of modern typefaces and more ornate hand done moments.


The client partnered with a local illustration artist and with our guidance, we came up with some corresponding elements such as the "Anna & Bel" face icon.

Embracing a history of women-led community & hospitality in a world class boutique destination, the Hotel Anna & Bel exudes personality throughout the intimate rooms, courtyard and common areas which recall the connections that were made here over generations.



These halls have known many stories over the centuries, and now it’s time for a new chapter. 

The essence of the Anna & Bel narrative shows itself throughout the brand with illustrative marks and thoughtful copy to create a brand has an alluring flare, an understated yet memorable point of view, and a light feminine touch.


Cohere handled press strategy, relations, and management on behalf of good neighbor for the launch of their new boutique hotel in Baltimore, MD. The 

 is a hotel that features seven unique, design-forward, thoughtfully curated spaces that are a fully shoppable experience. This concept places beloved global brands alongside the craftsmanship and skill of local artisans and makers in Baltimore.

Adding a deeper layer of storytelling to the nuanced and dynamic good neighbor brand, the guesthouse launched with specific and targeted coverage from national travel and design-focused media such as 

. Cohere is honored to continue to tell its story as the world learns about good neighbor and this brand built around the foundations of a home.
